The objective of this activity is to support the validation of an emerging short duration mission TT&C standard by developing and evaluating a TT&C prototype under various system conditions (multiple access use).
Targeted improvements: Establishing a new product line of TT&C equipment aimed at short duration missions.
The WRC-15 has acknowledged that new frequency bands (< 1GHz) shall be considered to accommodate the large number of future so-called short duration missions, i.e. small satellite missions shorter than 2-3 years. Furthermore, the community that has an interest in these short duration missions, would welcome an easy coordination mechanism between the users of the future TT&C bands. A spread-spectrum approach would be preferred.
This activity shall take the current considerations by ITU as an input, and re-use as much what is currently being standardized by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) in this field. A prototype TT&C shall be developed and delivered to validate the selected TT&C approach.
Priority 2 activities will only be initiated upon the specific request of at least one delegation.
