Agenda now available for Telecom Applications Workshop 2006


About 120 people are expected to attend the 'invitation only' event, which will be held in the Newton Conference Room at the ESTEC facilities in Noordwijk the Netherlands on 22 and 23 November 2006. The workshop can be viewed remotely, to learn how click under related links at the top-right of this page.

The two main aims of the workshop are:

  • to share the knowledge and experience in satcom applications that has been built up over recent years within the ESA Telecom programmes;
  • to help individuals and companies involved in ESA's Telecom Applications Projects get acquainted with each other and encourage building relationships among participants.

Seventeen presentations from ESA Telecom supported projects will be grouped along the following sessions:

  • Assessing and Exploiting IP Networks for New Applications;
  • Interactive Tele-training and Info Channel for Health Care Professionals;
  • Broadband on Trains - A Review of the Current Situation;
  • Video Assistance and Tele Home Care for Chronic Patients;
  • Satcom for the Consumer Market;
  • Bridging the Gap of Geographic Isolation through Telemedicine.

Ms Magali Vaissière, Department Head of ESA Telecom, will open the two-day event. This will be followed by a session on 'Venturing into the Unknown' from Mr Hans Stromeyer of Stromeyer Consultancy.

The event will close with a session led by Mr Francesco Feliciani, Head of Applications for ESA Telecom on 'Where Are We Headed?' and finally with an interactive discussion and closing remarks.
