ESA issued an Announcement of Opportunity for the selection of hosted payloads onboard one of the EDRS satellites last August. The response to this AO has been positive. ESA is preparing to receive more than 20 proposals from European industry wishing to participate in this endeavour.
The workshop provided general information about the EDRS programme and the process ESA will follow for the selection of the hosted payload(s). Workshop participants were also given the opportunity to have one to one sessions with ESA representatives to discuss specific aspects of their proposal.
Proposal submissions are due by 21 October 2011. Down selected proposals will receive additional technical and contractual information to allow for refinements to be submitted by mid December 2011. The final selection of EDRS hosted payloads will be made on the basis of these refined proposals.
