Euronews airs 50 years via satellite

This year marks 50 years since the first image was beamed through space and back to Earth again via satellite. In 1962 satellite TV itself was making the headlines, with the launch of Telstar from Cape Canaveral, USA. TV transmissions took place between the USA and two stations in Europe, one located at Pleumeur-Bodu in France (featured in this video) and one located at Goonhilly Downs in the UK.

Featured in this video are Emmanuel Rammos, TIA’s senior advisor, and Michele Le Saux, head of TIA’s ground segment division. They take us through the journey of satellite communications, showing us how things have changed over the past 50 years.
