Forum to discuss evolutions in satellite telecommunication ground segments

ESTEC will invite speakers to make presentations on specific topics to obtain views from the market, from users, and from developers to help shape ESA's long term priorities.  Sessions will be followed by a panel discussion where audience participation will be encouraged to debate the key development areas in each of the segments.

"The objectives of the Evolutions in Telecommunications Satellite Ground Segments forum include bringing together users, developers, and decision makers for telecommunications ground segments to share views and debate on how ground segments will evolve," explains Michèle Le Saux, Head of ESA Telecom's Ground Segment Technology Section and organiser of the forum.

"Another objective is to identify key enabling technologies and standards that will influence success in our markets and to identify gaps where new solutions need to be developed."

The Evolutions in Telecommunications Satellite Ground Segments forum is a two-day event taking place on 05 and 06 June in Newton Rooms 1 and 2 at ESTEC. Day One will begin at 9:30 and will end at 17:30. Topics to be discussed include Mobile Satellite Networks, Ka-band Broadband to Consumer Networks and Mesh Networking/SCADA.  A social event is planned for the evening.

Day Two of the forum begins at 9:00 and ends at 13:00.  Items on the agenda for this day include a discussion on the types of open standards that are important in the satellite market, followed by institutional speakers.
