Iris Industry briefing planned for 28 July - Presentations available for download

This 12-month study is aimed at satellite operators and service providers, and focuses on:

  • The definition of roles and responsibilities in service provision
  • The analysis of satellite operations and associated requirements for the system design
  • Regulatory activities required for the system verification and service validation
  • The financial analysis and definition of the business case

A strategic analysis shall complete the study and provide perspectives for the preparation of Phase 2.2 of the Iris Programme.

Iris, Element 10 of the ARTES Programme, is the ESA programme to develop a new Air-Ground communication system for Air Traffic Management as the satellite-based communication solution for the SESAR programme. Phase Two of the programme focuses on the development of a new satellite-based communication system including a new satellite communication standard, which performance will be validated end-to-end with a subset of the infrastructure required for the future European ATM System.
