Iris Phase 1 Final Presentations available for download

Iris, Element 10 of the ARTES Programme, is the ESA programme to develop a new Air-Ground communication system for Air Traffic Management as the satellite-based communication solution for the SESAR programme. Iris Phase A revolved around conducting dedicated Phase A studies to define a new communication standard and the most efficient satellite solution to provide the service to airspace users.

Phase Two of the Iris Programme will start in 2009 with the issue of the Phase B ITT for the Iris project and parallel ITT's for support by Satellite Operators and Service Providers. It focuses on the development of a new satellite-based communication system including a new satellite communication standard. Its performance will be validated end-to-end with a subset of the infrastructure required for the future European ATM System.
