Newtec wins industry award at IBC 2016

The Newtec MCX7000 Multi-Carrier Satellite Gateway

At IBC 2016, leading satellite communications equipment supplier Newtec (BE) was presented with CSI Magazine’s “Best Cable or Satellite IP Solution” award for the second release of its DVB-S2X-compatible of its DVB-S2X-compatible MCX7000 Multi-Carrier Satellite Gateway. IBC is the broadcast and digital media industry congress and tradeshow held every year in Amsterdam.

Launched at last year’s IBC, the MCX7000 provides efficient distribution to both towers and headends, resulting in reduced capital investment and operational savings for satellite service providers. The product upgrade can be used for Direct To Home distribution or for distribution of 4K/8K video on standard and High Throughput Satellite (HTS) spot beam transponders. It is also a good fit with the Newtec Dialog multiservice platform.

The MCX7000 is based on technology developed with the support of ESA through the Competitiveness & Growth element of the ARTES programme. Through ARTES, ESA has been actively supporting the development of the DVB-S2X standard and DVB-S2X-compatible equipment.

“The CSI award is well-deserved recognition for Newtec”, says Ilias Panagiotopoulos, Ground and User Segment Engineer at ESA. “Thanks to technology innovations supported by ARTES, the upgraded MCX7000 reinforces the company's leading position in the global market for professional DVB-S2X equipment.”
