  • ARTES 11 Small Geo Platform subsystem and unit procurement activities (update)

    In May 2007, ESA and OHB System AG announced to potential suppliers their procurement approach for the Small GEO Platform. In line with the project schedule and following the completion of the System Requirements Review (SRR) in September 2007, the procurement phase began in October 2007.

  • Small GEO Platform contract signed

    Today in Berlin, ESA officially announced the signing with OHB/Germany of a 100 million euro framework contract to develop a European Small Geostationary Satellite platform for telecommunication missions.

    On 9 May during the recent workshop for the Small GEO platform, OHB-System AG and ESA announced to potential subsystem and unit suppliers the current status of the procurement approach.

  • ESA and Hispasat sign PATP for Small GEO Mission

    On May 27th 2008, during the Berlin Air show ILA 2008, the European Space Agency and Hispasat S.A. signed a Preliminary Authorization To Proceed (PATP) for the Small GEO Mission.

  • Call for Interest - Small GEO Mission

    In order to achieve the objective of qualification of the Small GEO Platform, ESA is now looking for a private Operator or Service Provider who will fly an operational telecommunication payload and share the funding and risks of the satellite, launch and insurance.

  • Workshop on Small GEO Platform

    On 9 May starting at 13:30h at Space Expo just outside the ESA/ESTEC complex in Noordwijk the Netherlands a workshop will be held on the Small GEO Platform (ARTES 11 Programme, subelement 1).

  • Market study for Small GEO satellite released

    A Market Study commissioned by the European Space Agency reveals that an opportunity exists for a European manufactured Small Satellite platform with payload mass up to 300 kg and that such an endeavour will enable European players to compete effectively in the commercial telecom market for small platforms.

  • Conference on Small Geostationary Satellite in Germany

    More than 100 decision makers and experts representing satellite operators and satellite system, equipment, and payload manufactures have been invited by ESA and the German Aerospace Centre (Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt - DLR) to a workshop dedicated to the Small Geostationary Satellite initiative on 29 and 30 June in Rottach Egern, near Munich.
