Objectives

The aim of the project was to qualify a new generation of C Band input multiplexers for communication payloads in a monomode solution with better performances (Q, ELFD) and lower cost than the previous available in-house technical solution.

Challenges

A key task to be addressed during the project is the adaptation of already available Ka, Ku and X band channel filters technology for IMUX to C Band.

Benefits

This new product will enable TASE to cover commercial C band applications from 3.4 to 4.2 GHz covering all the typical bandwidths in this band (36, 54 and 72 MHz), with state-of-the-art performances at a much more competitive cost with respect to previous solutions and competitors.

Typical Performances

Transfer function: 10 pole pseudo elliptic with 4 transmission zeroes and 4 equalization zeroes.
Mass (per single channel): <450gr (C Band)
Filter Unloaded Q: >9000 (C Band)
Effective Linear Frequency Drift (ELFD): <1 ppm/°C
Qualified environmental ranges
Temperature Range (operational): -25°C to +70°C
Vibration levels: > 28.8 g rms (all axes)
Shock levels: > 4200 gsrs
Plan

After a first design phase devoted to the adaptation of monomode solution to C Band, a second phase of manufacturing, integration and qualification testing of a representative EQM will be carried out.
