GaAs Solar Array building block development for Telecommunication Geostationary Satellite Applications
Status Date: 12 April 2016
The Pleiades project is based on 2 satellite communications modem physical layer development tracks, bringing new IP connectivity solutions to the corresponding 2 market segments: A consumer oriented market on one side (addressed by Newtec’s Sat3Play™ solution, deployed in star VSAT networks). High end professional markets on the other side (addressed by Newtec’s Elevation™ products, deployed in point to point networks). The objectives of the overall Pleiades Program (Sliced contract) are: Slice 1: Development of the HRC, Static Mx-DMA technology and demonstration with various satellite operators Slice 2: Development of S2 extension as more efficient transmission technology. (resulted in the DVB-S2X standard for most ModCods) Slice 3: Full integration of dynamic HRC – Mx-DMA into the Newtec Dialog System with additional capabilities on VRF and terminal performance.
Lightweight RF Power Cable with High Phase Stability
Status Date: 12 April 2016
This activity has focused on the development of ultra-light RF cables capable to handle RF power signals for future telecom payloads. The main goals, phase stability and low mass, have been successfully achieved. The cables show excellent phase stability over a wide temperature and frequency range and it is as light as the lightest state of the art cables.
Low rate VSAT SCADA Network Development
Status Date: 12 April 2016
The Low Rate VSAT SCADA Network development has result in a unique low-data rate DVB-S2/RCS terminal platform optimized for SCADA applications, as well as a private, single user hub platform for network configuration, control and monitoring.
Mobile ad hoc networks with satellite access for public safety operations
Status Date: 11 April 2016
The project is about the development of features and functionalities of a communication gateway, which allows the efficient linking of Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) to satellite networks. The development addresses the market of public safety organisations which do have a requirement for mobile broadband communication solutions with a high availability at the respective operation sites. Key requirements from public safety organisations in the areas of mobility management, security and QoS provisioning will be fulfilled by the solution to be developed. Public safety organisations are involved in the project during the requirement collection and system validation phase.
