Description
The objective of the activity is to develop a software simulation tool for the assessment of interference and jamming on the radio frequency and optical communication links. The simulator will support system design and development activities, providing insights about some interference scenarios to telecommunications and TTC links in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) and Frame Error Rate (FER). In addition, the simulator will output all the information needed to generate a reference signal in a testbed (e.g. using Software Defined Radio) in accordance with the simulated scenario. It is important to note that the activity does not cover any interference scenario, but it covers only the technical development of the simulator. However, the developed simulator will allow to perform any interference and jamming scenario analyses within system engineering activities. The simulator will be capable to compute the expectedlink budget and the impact of interference given the satellites orbits, the transmitter/receiver characteristics and the positions of interferers, gateways, TTC ground stations and users. Specifically, the simulator will take as input the geometry of the scenario(orbits and positions of the transmitters/receivers) and the configuration of the transmission/reception chains of all actors (e.g.antenna pattern, pointing error etc...). It will provide as output for all receivers of interest the expected power of each received snal (both nominal and interference signals) and the resulting signal to noise ratio, the related bit error rate and packet error rate for specific modulation and coding of choice and the dynamics observables with respect to the transmitters of interest (e.g. range and doppler). All these outputs shall be provided in an easy to read and process format, to be reused as scenario generation withother tools such as a Software Defined Radio (SDR) simulators or optical testbeds. In addition, this software tool can help the preliminary evaluation of the interference impact for some scenarios. Procurement Policy: C(2) = A relevant participation (in terms of quality and quantity) of non-primes (incl. SMEs) is required.
