Alphasat Services and Ground Segment Presentations Day announced

The Alphasat services and ground segment developments cover the design and development of new services, ground segment infrastructure, user terminal technology and applications for the new Alphasat I-XL satellite, being developed through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) between Inmarsat and ESA.

Alphasat I-XL will be integrated into the Inmarsat satellite fleet to provide mobile satellite communications services for users in the maritime, land and aviation sectors. It will provide coverage over Europe, Asia, Africa and Middle East.

Alphasat uses Alphabus, the new European high-power telecommunications platform jointly developed by Astrium and Thales Alenia Space under a joint ESA and CNES contract. The platform offers up to 22 KW payload power and can support a payload mass of up to 1400 kg. Alphabus is the coordinated European response to the increased market demand for larger telecommunication payloads.

Presentations from Inmarsat and its industrial team will take place in the Erasmus Auditorium conference room at ESTEC. For an agenda of events, click here.
