Tender 1-5522 is the Definition Phase of the Satellite System for ARTES 10. Its objective is to provide a solid design and development plan for ATM dedicated satcom capacity able to meet the standardisation, certification and deployment milestones of the complementary terrestrial communication system(s).
Tender 1-5519 is for Communication System Design. This ITT is calling for the development of a new (or adapted) communication standard to be used by SESAR, adopted at ICAO level and valid worldwide, which fully meets the Communications Operating Concept and Requirements (COCR) elaborated jointly by Eurocontrol and the FAA.
Iris aims to develop satellite communications for exchanges between aircraft and flight control centres, complementing existing and future systems in support of the growth in worldwide air traffic operations.
