Satellite applications showcased on Telecom stand at Farnborough (24-30th July)

Exciting multimedia initiatives, including the award winning Espresso for Schools project, recent Abaris trials for the delivery of music products by satellite and groundbreaking Multimed remote medical simulation developments were shown as examples of ARTES 3 achievements.

Lord Sainsbury, the UK Minister for Science, got a ''hands on'' demonstration of all three projects when he visited the ESA stand during VIP day. The Espresso display went down especially well with our younger visitors! Lots of fun was had with the interactive modules developed as part of the project.

Much interest was also shown in the project by parents and teachers alike, impressed with the educational scope and potential of the service. Other ESA Space Applications informatively represented included Earth Observation, Space Science, Transfer Technology and Navigation.

ESA shared a stand during the show with the British National Space Centre, whose web site can be reached by the above link?
