ScyLight Virtual Industry Day - United Kingdom

The UK ScyLight Industry Day is an online event bringing together companies and research organisations alike with an interest in optical communication and photonics to discuss current opportunities for UK industry.

Agenda

Due to current limitations, the event will be held online. ESA and the UK Space Agency will present on their priorities in this space, and participants are invited to present short pitches on their capabilities in Photonics and Optical Technologies to other participants, ESA and UK Space Agency. To find out how to register for a pitch, see below.

Pitches should be aimed at new ideas for partnerships, technologies that are currently missing from roadmaps, and to showcase commercial collaboration opportunities and should not be aimed at securing funding (details of funding available will be provided by ESA and UKSA).

How to book a place

The event will take place on Friday 17 September 2021 – 09:00 – 12:00 GMT  (10:00 – 13:00 CEST).

To register, please email Christopher.vasko@esa.int, with the subject: [UK SCYLIGHT INDUSTRY DAY] with your contact details.

Optical Communication Technologies are revolutionising traditional, radiofrequency-based space services and open the prospect for integrating future VHTS Satellites and mega-constellations into terrestrial fibre networks. Not limited by the bottle neck of overlapping and expensive RF frequencies for data up- and download, and featuring significantly higher connection speeds than traditional frequencies, the future of SatCom will be empowered by photonics.

ESA’s ARTES Strategic Programme Line “ScyLight” was conceived to support and stimulate European Industry developments in Optical Communication Technologies and is supported by the UK Space Agency’s which drives growth in the UK economy by fostering a strong and competitive space sector, underpinned by cutting-edge space technology and skills.
