ScyLight Workshop

ScyLight (SeCure and Laser communication Technology) is the new ARTES programme element dedicated to Optical Communication Technologies. It was approved at the 2016 Ministerial Council and introduced in January 2017.

To launch the programmatic process, ESA’s Telecom’s directorate (TIA) is organising a workshop dedicated to ScyLight on 8 February 2017 at its facilities in ESTEC Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

At the workshop, ESA will introduce the ScyLight programmatic framework and its tools to inform industry on how to participate.

The workshop will be organised in 4 sequential blocks, addressing

  • Optical Communication Technology on System Level
  • Future and challenges on Optical Communication Terminal developments
  • Trends and challenges on Intra-Satellite Photonics / Optical Payloads
  • Space based Quantum Cryptography Technologies

For each of the topics ESA will introduce its view and afterwards opens the floor for short 5 Minute Pitch Talks by interested participants. You can propose your 5 Minute Pitch Talk, together with your registration. (Deadline for Talks: 2 February 2017)

(Depending on the number of requests by participants, the proposed timeline in the agenda will be adapted. ESA reserves the right to down select proposed talks.)
