Selected offshore vessels within EU waters and beyond are now in sight of EU customs officials as an ESA demonstration project, in support to the European Maritime Safety Agency´s Blue Belt pilot project, gets fully underway.
ESA is inviting parties with a SAT-AIS system concept (existing or planned) to be part of the SAT-AIS Comparative Performance Assessment exercise. Interested parties are invited to submit their proposals by 12 September 2011.
An announcement of opportunity has been issued for the demonstration of a satellite-based AIS service to complement the terrestrial AIS network of the European Maritime Safety Agency´s Blue Belt pilot project. Deadline to submit a proposal is 12 August, 2011.
ESA is inviting organisations to submit proposals to help establish the AIS Testbed Interface requirements related to the SAT-AIS Initiative Comparative Performance Assessment. Organisations are invited to submit their proposals by 8 April 2011.
ESA is positioning itself in the middle of the emerging AIS business through ARTES 21, a programme that will evaluate technologies against requirements that ESA is assembling with the European Maritime Safety Agency.
Close to 50 representatives from EU Member States, ESA, the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA)and ESA JCB delegates attended the second joint EMSA/ESA SAT-AIS initiative information meeting in Lisbon on 26 January.
