Objectives

The objective of this activity is to explore the future role of satellites in the context of personal communication beyond the timeframe for communications systems considered implemented in the short to medium term.


Future technology developments that influence satellite communication systems to the extent of offering new services or new markets will be explored.


The characteristics of the services and the satellite systems will be addressed and the impact on terminal equipment and satellites clarified.

Flexible air interfaces, Quality of Service, reconfigurable platforms, digital satellite services.

The project explores an alternative approach in terms of work methodology from that traditionally employed by the Agency.


Regularly held workshops with participants from several players in the communications market will form a discussion forum where the various topics of the activity are addressed.
