The Sunrise project concerns the
development and operation of a platform which can
deliver varied content to users in Europe and,
eventually, to nearly all major cities around the world.
Content providers will be able to broadcast material as
and when needed and the cost of broadcasting will be
reduced still further as the audience is widened. The
dramatic increase in potential audience size and the
reduction in the cost of broadcasting mean that more
businesses can take advantage of this new technology
to deliver their material.

Under the project technologies and key components for a new miniature satellite communications terminal known as "PocketSat" are developed.

The project aims to carry out an assessment on the applications of satellite broadband - actual and potential. Assessment material will be based on a benchmarked study of Irish perceptions and attitudes on aspects of satellite broadband use and service provision.

BrandTV is a service platform allowing
production and distribution of tailored content (such as
logos, banners, text, images, etc.) to be displayed on
screens in the different betting shops in combination
with the live video of the horse races and greyhound
races. The multimedia screen format is generated at
SIS' broadcast hub using professional standard
equipment, rendered as a composite video screen,
MPEG encoded, and broadcast out to all receivers
simultaneously. Although this enables SIS to present a
set of multimedia formats for their customers there is
just one centrally created multimedia format available.

TeLeCare project was dedicated to the
development, validation and deployment of the March
Networks home telehealth solution to be delivered over
two-way satellite networks. This solution enables remote
nursing visits and vital sign monitoring through fully
interactive voice, video and data transmission, and will
target healthcare service delivery in rural and remote
areas.

The objective behind SchoolCast is to plan,
design, implement and pilot a content delivery system,
whereby a variety of multimedia files (internet, video,
audio, image) could be multicast to a set of Irish
secondary schools using a 2-way satellite infrastructure,
and cache the files at the school server for fast local
access.

The specific study objectives of this project are many, but they can all be summarized by asking the following simple question: 'Is there a business case for MSS in the fourth generation of mobile networks?'

The objective of the "eLearning of DVB" project is to host a set of web based training (WBT) courses on Digital Video Broadcasting with a special emphasis on Satellite DVB.

Development and pilot operations for a
point-of-sale television channel allowing personalisation
through multimedia contents originated by subscribers
via a web interface. Operation of the OTV Channel
includes acquisition of video contents, MPEG encoding of
videos, uplinking and distribution, reception by
BrandBoxes STB, operation of On-Line Picture
Messaging and helpdesk.

Almedia is a multi-media content management system that allows broadcast quality video content to be stored, browsed and retrieved from a central multimedia server.

This project is RUAG Aerospace Sweden's (formerly Saab Ericsson Space) follow-on to the Converters Receivers Evolution Programme with the ambition to cover important remaining areas needed for efficient flight production and provide more complete equipment.

The project aims to develop and to qualify a new version of the PROP module that is used in the Spacebus4000 platform for telecom satellite. The PROP module implements electronics for the control and the monitoring of the propulsion valves. The re-designed module is named PROPA and takes advantage of the experience gathered on the SB4000 satellites.

The project has brought forward key enabling technologies for a new generation integrated satellite-cellular system targeting rural deployments. This includes a low cost, low power 1TRX GSM radio and bandwidth efficient GSM-over-IP-over-DVB/RCS integration for low opex GSM backhaul.

The objective of this activity is to develop a set of C-band TTC and Feeder Link antennas with ISO / Hemi coverage.

The main objective of this study is to develop, manufacture and characterise one Engineering Model of an ultra light deployment mechanism based on purely elastic/collapsible hinges concept made of advanced high performance materials.

The activity aims to develop an EM of a Sealed Brush Gear Motor (SBGM) to fulfil an appendage deployment function, based on the Sealed Brush DC motor background and heritage obtained in the frame of the METOP contract 16278 "Development of a sealed Brush DC motor".

The first objective of the Access 3 project was to strengthen Newtec's Sat3play Product Line for the consumer market, the second being to ensure a complete product portfolio. Two key capabilities required for the consumer market resulted from the reoriented ACCESS 3 Project: Capability of Mass Production, and Capability of Do-It-Yourself installation of the Sat3Play terminal.

The University of Salzburg will assist the Iris project by developing and simulating models of the air traffic situation with respect to the time-frame of 2013 and 2025.

The objective of the the SatFlow Concept Demonstration project is to develop a new product line called SatFlow. SatFlow will offer operational benefits to terrestrial broadcasting tower operators for broadcasting digital television to both classical fixed television receivers and to mobile handheld terminals.

The overall objective of the SAMARA project is to provide a thorough Phase A analysis of satellite communications options for providing Air Traffic Communication services, identifying the necessary subset of the overall system to support qualification of the services.

The PathFinder 1A project intends to launch an attached payload as a first demonstrator of space AIS capacity. For this purpose, an attached payload has been developed, to be launched along with SarLupe-3 satellite on the COSMOS 3 launcher.

A system PDR was successfully completed with ESA in February 2006 for the CX-OLEV mission, a GEO on-orbit servicing system which extends the mission lifetime of GEO telecom satellites. As this system is now based on a SMART-like platform, this study is being carried out in order to achieve the same level of maturity with new spacecraft. This adaptation study has been restricted only to the SENER responsibilities in the project lead by SSC.

The objective of the project was to develop, manufacture and qualify an S-band diplexer with high demanding electrical performances such as PIM, Multipaction and Power Handling for satellite application.

The study is focused on the business viability of a Data Relay System (DRS) mission. Once defined a detailed market segmentation and the related classes of services that a DRS mission can provide will be given. The following activities have been performed: Definition of DRS mission drivers;
Mission analysis to define a system architecture;
Definition of a business plan.

The EDRS (European Data Relay Satellite) Service Provider Study was carried out by Eutelsat with the aim of investigating both technical and commercial aspects of the EDRS system from the Satellite Operator?s perspective. The EDRS mission and architectures analysed in this study are primarily compatible with the service delivery of data relay and data repatriation/dissemination for GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) as well as data relay applications for the ISS (International Space Station). There are numerous additional services which can be offered by the system and these include data relay transfer for other Earth Observation (EO) missions, UAVs (Unmanned Arial Vehicles) or Launchers.

The project intends to study, analyse and optimize beam hopping techniques in multibeam broadband satellite systems. The benefits in terms of capacity and system flexibility compared to conventional system architectures shall be assessed through detailed system simulations.

The aim of the activity is to theoretically and experimentally study and address the potentiality of superconductor materials to be implemented in space electric propulsion units, helping to overcome limitations or enhance performances of the current conventional devices present on such units.

The main objective of the project is to provide technical support to ESA during the current Phase A of the Iris programme.

ATSIG aims to develop an Auto-Troubleshooting system on top of the market-leading Carrier Monitoring System SIECAMS from Siemens Space Business.

The goal of the MMSA project is the development and market assessment of flat multiband antenna front-ends for vehicular terminals.

The overall objective of the ICOS Project is to analyse and define a technical solution for the satellite communication standard able to meet the stringent performance requirements for Air Traffic Communication services (ATS/AOC).

The purpose of SARFOS is to develop a
forward emergency response coordination and
communication system using a combination of the latest
technology in the field of integrated satellite and
terrestrial communication, navigation and information
databases.

This satellite system shall support a flexible, efficient and high capacity two-way data exchange scheme with data transfer in real and non-real time, and in bursty and non-bursty modes, to a large number of end-users using fixed terminals.

The SC1000 Field Terminal project has the objective to improve the SDS-Mk2 satellite based narrowband data services for mobile and static applications. A new terminal is built with lower power consumption, remote configuration and monitoring, L- and S-band support and extra features. The base station and over the air protocol are redesigned to support the new SC1000 terminal.

The SDS-Mk2 project aims to develop the
foundation for a commercial solution to satellite based
narrowband data services for mobile and static
applications. This includes the development of end user
solutions especially a "trailer pack" and a "metering
pack" for gas meter monitoring and read-out, the
development of algorithms and implementation in
software to gain additional link margin to enable the
service to operate over geostationary satellites with a
hemispheric beam and a low G/T, the development of a
new core satcom technology dubbed "SpaceChecker
Open Satcom Core SOSC" which offers the features and
flexibility required by the European market.

The project objectives are to define and evaluate various scenarios for QoS support in future integrated satellite/terrestrial networks.

IGEA SAT (Integrated General E-care
Access for homecare via SATellite) provides an interactive
tele-homecare solution to chronic patients in their
homes, using a dedicated Set Top Box with IP interface,
that is connected via satellite or terrestrial ADSL to a
Telemedicine service centre. Both content and interface
of the IGEA-SAT application are tailored to the specific
patient (e.g. agenda, medical data, educational videos).
The system provides three different applications: Tele-Monitoring, Video Assistance, and Video Edutainment.

The goal of the project is to design, develop and qualify a Power Conditioning and Distribution Unit (PCDU) dedicated to the telecom market based on a constellation of satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). One Electrical Model (EM), one Electrical Qualification Model and on test equipment (EGSE) will be manufactured in the frame of the contract. The target industrial project is the GlobalStar second constellation of satellites.

The Inmarsat Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) system has been specified to support point to point telecommunication services on portable and semi fixed land mobile platforms with low to medium gain non-tracking antennas
