The SASS-2IP project objective is to develop and implement a Satellite Terminal IP Interface
Unit (STIU) for the interconnection of alarm- and
security equipment to satellite interactive terminals,
enhance the SASS signalling protocols and software to
support IP traffic control for any 3rd party security
applications connected to the STIU including the
provisioning of guaranteed bandwidth on-demand with
multiple priority levels (standard, high, emergency) and
validate the functional and operational performance for
an innovative alarm- and surveillance application.

mrStream is dedicated to develop an
application platform for the contribution and distribution
of video and data content to get greater insight into
consumer attitudes and behaviour than is possible from
the techniques and technologies currently used by
Market Research agencies and their clients. The
mrStream applications platform collects, links, interprets
and publishes consumer and social insight data using
advanced media format with high impact potentials for
the end users.

The objective of the study is to investigate a wider design space of congestion control mechanisms compatible with the I-PEP specification for the purpose of accelerating HTTP transfers, while maintaining good performance for generic large-volume TCP transfers.

The objective of the project is to develop a miniature satellite communications user terminal platform known as 'PocketSAT'. This platform is aimed at L-band mobile satcom services, including hand-held, land-mobile and maritime. Phase 3 is to extend the PocketSAT developments in another direction: private packet-data networks operating over leased satellite capacity.

The goal of this project is to assess the technical and business benefits of integrating the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) in Satellite based core telecom networks, and to explore to what extent any recommendations coming from this study can be merged into standardisation activities to allow a broad and open adaptation across the industry.

The main objective of the project is to study and demonstrate that broadband Satcom networks can be seamlessly integrated within an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) based network, both in terms of protocols and performance.

The objective of the project is the development and qualification of a new type of output multiplexer.

Mobile satellite-based communications systems will be introduced into the markets in increasing numbers. Satellite transponders carrying traffic of such systems demand challenging capabilities both from the transponder payload and from the test systems used to validate them. This project aims to capture the requirements of a generic MTP-RMS that supports testing and verifying mobile communications payloads.

The goal of the ALOA PrePhase-B was to consolidate the system architecture for the ALOA payload, based on the service requirements of Orbcomm Inc. as a major potential customer, as well as to establish a sound business understanding for further development.

The key issue addressed in this project is lower-cost production methods for Ka band waveguide components that satisfy all the functional, mechanical and environmental requirements.

COM Dev will develop Ka band hardware with improved performance in areas such as power rating, bandwidth, frequency (data rate), signal attenuation, mass, reliability and longevity. This technology will support the expanding commercial European Ka band satellite program requirements.

This project developed a verification test bed for DVB-RCS hubs. It is an extension of the Common Test Bed for DVB-RCS terminals, and is based on the VeriSat Terminal Population Emulator. The HTB will be handed over to the same independent test house (CETECOM) responsible for testing and certification of DVB-RCS terminals on behalf of The SatLabs Group.

The proposed project aims to establish the equipment requirements and a modular design concept for a new generation of converters and receivers on C-band and Ku-band.

The objectives of this project are to develop a high power 5 kW gridded ion thruster, referred to as the T6 Mk3, and its associated PSCU for Alphabus station keeping.

The Common Test Bed allows the certification of DVB-RCS terminals, which is an important step in achieving terminal interoperability. The outcomes so far have resulted in an important contribution to the development of a compact Hub Emulator well suited to support cost-effective DVB-RCS terminal development.

A SW-tool has been developed which allows the user to optimise the RF performance of smooth or corrugated conical horns for communications and tracking purposes. A horn has been designed, manufactured and tested.

The main goal of this project is to provide a completely operational prototype capable of supplying structured information on the space environment and the effects on spacecraft to assist with satellite maintenance.

The objective of the project was to develop, manufacture and qualify two L-Band ONETs for EADS Astrium satellites and the US market.
ONETs are high power devices used for multi-point telephony applications. In this case, two 8x8 matrices were developed. In one of them the mass and the PIM were the critical points, whereas the second one was developed with the high power requirements of the US market in mind.

In commercial programs, short delivery schedule is mandatory. This is normally in contradiction to the need for application specific requirements that need special solutions for each case. For most programs Norspace has experienced that development of hybrids normally define the minimum delivery time. The key objective in the project was to prepare lower level generic design blocks that meet the requirements for the next opportunity.

A Mechanically Pumped Fluid Loop loop Flight Experiment (MPFL-FX) is proposed to be flown as Technology Demonstrator Program (TDP) on the Alphasat mission. The main MPFL-FX objective is to carry-out the on-orbit life testing of the MPFL components in order to increase its acceptance with respect to future customers.

The End to End Performance and Security Enhancements program is an incremental, evolutionary development of Advantech Satellite Networks´ successful product line of DVB-RCS hubs and terminals. The technical areas that are considered to be of the highest importance for this development are Accelerated VPN and MESH.

The objectives of this project are to improve the EMS DVB-RCS product lines by
adding new capabilities and advanced features. The products that are part of this
project are the Return Link Subsystem (RLSS), Satellite Interactive Terminal
(SIT), and DVB-RCS Gateway.

The objective of this project is to enhance key aspects of the EMS product line in line with feedback from the customer base as well as changing market requirements. These key aspects include End to End performance, DVB-S2 support, and Network Management.

The Integrated Digital Overlay (Indigo) is
to develop the next generation of technology for
satellite-delivered video programming and data for
Enterprise and Broadcast customers. Indigo intends to
develop a digital signage product suite to enable
customers to use the Captive Audience Networking
medium. This demands innovation in the central
distribution hub, remote-end equipment and
distribution. In the Broadcast market (including directto-
home DTH), Indigo defines and optimises media
ingest, digital asset management and distribution.

A Common Test House for DVB-RCST compliance and interoperability testing.

The objective of the project is to develop an extension of IDC's SuperFlex DVP IP multicasting product line that is capable of ultra-high speed multi-carrier operation.

This project encompassed a trade-off analysis of the performance characteristics of the available optical amplifiers technologies (mainly Erbium-Doped Fibre Amplifier (EDFA), Erbium-Doped Waveguide Amplifier (EDWA) and Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (SOA)), and assessed their potential for operation in the space environment.

The objective of the project is to develop a temperature compensation technique for both high power output multiplexers and manifolds at Ka-band.

The project objective is to monitor the evolution of the telecom, ICT and media markets over a period of 24 months to spot market opportunities and threats, understand the changes in demand and extract the strategic evolutions relevant for the satellite telecommunication market.

The main objective of the activity is to review and investigate the most promising RF-Front-End and Antenna technologies relevant to the avionic Satcom terminal in order to assess and evaluate their applicability as well as to highlight their advantages/disadvantages.

The project objective is to develop an IF Switch Matrix for use in Multimedia Satellite

The objective of the study is to identify and characterise upcoming new opportunities for the European and Canadian satellite industry. The study will monitor the emergence of new drivers of the evolution of demand and key enablers for the provision of innovative commercial services worldwide.

Inmarsat has completed a Technical Assistance Contract under Phase A of the Iris programme, where ESA has embarked on the development of a new satellite to aircraft communication standard in support of both safety of life and aircraft operational communication. The purpose of Inmarsat´s involvement was to assist the Agency in determining suitable options to be further developed towards eventual validation and deployment.

The scope of the EAM activities is to define and to develop a competitive high thrust, high specific impulse European Apogee Motor (EAM).

The TV Snapshot project aims to develop
an end-user application enabling the user to access
descriptive data about his/her favourite TV content
received in a PC via a DVB card, and later act on this
data to purchase content online.

The objective of the project was to develop and verify a new competitive member to the present set of Ku-band antennas, a dual frequency (Rx/Tx) dual port Ku-band bicone antenna.

The aim of this project is to design a new system based on the now maturing technology of Photonic Components. The current system is far more complex than necessary, and one where any further developments to carry an ever growing bandwidth to more locations is increasingly costly, complex and specialized.
